Welcome to St Laurence Church, Appleton with Besselsleigh
A welcoming and inclusive church serving the whole community
The Appleton Almshouses are three 16th Century Grade 2 listed thatched cottages in the middle of the village, next to the shop, formerly known as Church Cottages. They are owned by the Church Almshouses Charity which was set up in 1970 with the express purpose of using these three cottages as almshouses for the residence of 'poor people who are resident in the parish of Appleton-with-Eaton'.
Management and administration of the Charity and the three almshouses is carried out by three voluntary trustees, who are the Rector and Churchwardens of St Laurence, Appleton. Currently, the trustees are: Rev Wealands Bell (Chairman), Jane Cranston and Peter Day.
A full renovation of the three almshouses was carried out in 2004/5 and they were rethatched in 2016.
When vacancies arise, they are advertised in the Appleton Advertiser.
